A Brighter Dental Future for Cornwall
A new dental practice has opened in Saltash as part of an expansion which will see an award-winning community interest company provide dentistry for thousands of local people.
Smile Together is opening new centres and expanding the existing facilities of its Brighter Dental practices throughout 2018 and ploughing profits back into local communities.
Brighter Dental Saltash, based at Saltash Health Centre, is the first of three new facilities set to be launched this year in a bid to make dentistry more accessible to local people. The company estimates that currently thousands of people in Cornwall do not have access to a dentist.
The new practice, which is already attracting new patients with easy online registration, discounts for dental examinations and flexible payment plans, offers a full range of competitively priced dental treatments and services including check-ups, dentures (new and repair), emergencies, fillings, teeth whitening and hygienist appointments. All with the promise of a warm welcome and a sensitive approach.
Paul Critchley, Managing Director at Smile Together, explained: “We have big plans to bring Brighter Dental to more patients, by investing in highly skilled staff and new facilities. We’re delighted to start in Saltash and will be formally launching new facilities in Penzance, Newquay and Bodmin in the coming months. We anticipate our expansion will offer accessible, cost effective and local dental care to over 10,000 people across Cornwall.”
Commenting on the opening of the new Saltash practice, David Bustin, Area Manager at Brighter Dental, said: “We’ve had a very warm welcome in Saltash from local people who can see we are doing something positive by looking after them and looking after their community, with profits invested back into initiatives such as our Brighter Smiles campaign to improve oral health for children across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly".
To date Brighter Smiles, backed by supporters such as Cornwall Council, Imerys, Ocean Housing, Vospers and Fuel has helped over 1000 children across the Duchy with tooth brushing classes and fluoride applications in over 30 nursery and primary schools. The campaign aims to reverse the trend which sees over 60 teeth removed from 5-9 year olds under general anaesthetic every day - the number one reason for hospitalisation for that age group yet completely preventable.
