Check the cupboards for a sneaky peek inside Santa’s stocking this Christmas
If you’re one of those people who just can’t wait for Christmas, or curiosity always gets the better of you, make sure you check the cupboards for the best chance of sneaking an early peek at your presents.
A survey commissioned by Barratt Homes, which is bringing new homes to Plymouth, has lifted the lid on where people hide their presents in the lead up to December 25.
More than half of all respondents (51.2 per cent) to the housebuilder’s survey, confess to hiding their Christmas presents in wardrobes and cupboards around the home, presumably well away from prying eyes.
Other popular places to stash gifts include under the bed (17.6 per cent), in the loft (14.9 per cent) and out in the shed (2.3 per cent), with the cupboard under the stairs and even under the tree itself featuring in a rundown of people’s top Christmas present hiding places.
Sara Parker, sales director at Barratt Homes, said: “It’s always fascinating getting an insight into people’s quirks and traditions at home, particularly at this time of year. Every family is different and part of what makes our job so fun is meeting those families and helping them bring their old traditions to their new home.”
The five-star housebuilder, which is bringing new homes to Plymouth at its Redwood Heights development, is gearing up for Christmas itself. The company has written to Father Christmas to make sure he knows the addresses of its new homes.
Sara said: “Some of our developments will be brand-new to Santa this year so we’re making sure he knows that lots of little boys and girls on his ‘nice’ list are living there.”
