Collisions course traffic delays in Plymouth
Drivers have been experiencing severe delays in the city following two collisions.
An ambulance and two fire appliances from Plymstock and Greenbank attended a collision on the westbound A379, Billacombe Road in Billacombe, Plymstock, where a car had driven into a lamp post, early this afternoon (Thursday 17 October).
Two elderly women were trapped inside, requiring crews to use hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof of the car.
Crews worked alongside paramedics to release both casualties and place them on to spinal boards. They were then transfered to hospital via road ambulance. Crews then made the vehicle safe and left duty of care with Western Power (making the lamp post safe) and the police.
A second incident occurred shortly before 5pm on the eastbound side of the Billacombe Road. There were not thought to be any serious injuries, though an ambulance crew attended the scene.
