Devon crime writer  Ann Cleeves is preparing for the local launch of her latest book, The Heron’s Cry. The launch event in Crediton Town Square on September 1st will headline an autumn programme by local  book shop The Bookery.

The Heron's Cry is the second book in Ann's  North Devon based Two Rivers series.  The first, The Long Call, was a Sunday Times bestseller. Described by the Daily Express as “a triumph that cements Cleeves’ status as one of Britain’s best crime writers”,  it is set to be developed into a major series for ITV.

Ann Cleeves is famous for her crime series, in particular, the Vera Stanhope and Jimmy Perez novels, which have been dramatised as hugely successful TV detective series Vera and Shetland

Dee Lalljee, CEO at The Bookery, says, “We are thrilled to be restarting our 2021 event programme with the Devon launch of The Heron’s Cry. Ann is a much-loved patron of the bookshop with a huge fan base here in Mid Devon. Raven Black, the first book in her Shetland series and a major BBC1 drama starring Douglas Henshall, was chosen for our 2019 Big Read. This is the first event in our autumn programme, which includes some fantastic names including our patron Philip Reeve, Sarah McIntryre, and Robin Ince."

To celebrate Ann’s passionate support of bookshops and libraries this event is hosted in partnership with Libraries Unlimited. It will be available as an online stream for those unable to attend in person. Ann will talk about her new novel, take questions from the audience and sign and dedicate copies of her book.
