Do you want to make a difference in Stonehouse, Plymouth?
Do you have a great idea but not sure how to make it happen?
If so then Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service (DSFRS) would like to invite you to their information evening that will be held at ‘The Street Factory’ to explain how you could receive funding to bring your idea to life.
Station Manager, Ros Clarke said: "This is all about inclusion and empowering the community, letting them decide what is best for them and the area in which they live. We have a minimum of £20,000 that has been put in to the project from DSFRS and other partner agencies. The people of Stonehouse will listen to funding bids and they will decide by way of a voting system how the money is spent. I’m really looking forward to hearing new ideas and initiatives"
Your idea – big or small – needs to:
- Improve community life in the Stonehouse area
- Address anti-social behaviour issues
When: 20th February 2018
Where: The Street Factory, 4-8 Sawrey Street, Stonehouse, PL1 3LA
Time: 6.30pm
The Information Evening will answer all your questions and point you in the right direction for you to format your idea which you will deliver at the Presentation and Voting Event that will take place at the same venue on Tuesday 6th March 2018.
Nick Williams and Ian Penhale who are leading the project and work at the station added: "Working alongside partners and the community in this way will allow the crews at Greenbank Fire Station to establish new relationships, as well as re-establish already created bonds whilst tackling the problems associated with anti-social behaviour which links to our service issues of deliberate fires. We would also like to take the opportunity to build relationships with the people of Stonehouse so that we can deliver our fire safety messages and provide free smoke alarms to those most vulnerable in the communities that we serve".
