Dogs Trust Ilfracombe has launched an urgent appeal for dog toys for the homeless hounds at the rehoming centre to enjoy.

With stocks of toys at the North Devon rehoming centre at an all time low, the fun-loving pooches are left wondering where all the toys have gone as their toy box is bare.

Staff are asking for donations of toys of all shapes and sizes – from squeakies to tug toys, chewers and Kongs – anything which will help their dogs beat the boredom whilst they wait for their forever homes.

Elise Watson, Dogs Trust Ilfracombe Rehoming Centre Manager, says: “We look after dogs of all shapes and sizes, and get through a lot of toys! The dogs get so much enjoyment from toys such as balls, Frisbees and tug-toys when they are playing with our canine carers, but importantly toys really help to keep their brains busy when they are in their kennels too.

“Some of the toys do of course get chewed by our more enthusiastic dogs so hard-wearing ones like squeaky toys and Kongs are perfect.”

The centre would love large pre-loved or new toys to be donated, but they must be specifically for dogs.

If you think you can help, please contact the team at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe on 0300 303 0292 or visit the centre at Hazeldene, West Down, Ilfracombe, EX34 8NU. You can also purchase items from the centre’s Amazon Wish List www.dogstrust.org.uk/our-centres/ilfracombe
