Drake Circus confirms festive opening hours
Drake Circus has confirmed its festive opening times for last minute shopping trips and anyone planning a day out with family and friends over the Christmas period.
Some stores at the shopping centre will also be extending their opening hours in the days leading up to Christmas to give visitors more time to get what they need.
This Thursday (19th December) will be the last of Drake Circus’ popular late night shopping hours before Christmas, with the centre open until 9pm to help visitors fit their festive shopping in around busy schedules.
What’s more, this Thursday will also see Drake Circus welcome the last of its Christmas character visits, as Polar Pip gives out the biggest bear hugs in town.
Drake Circus’ full opening times in the run up to and throughout the Christmas week are:
- Friday 20th December: 9am – 6pm
- Saturday 21st December: 9am – 6pm
- Sunday 22nd December: 10:30am – 4:30pm
- Monday 23rd December: 9am – 6pm
- Tuesday 24th December (Christmas Eve): 8am – 5pm
- Wednesday 25th December (Christmas Day): Closed
- Thursday 26th December (Boxing Day): 9am – 6pm
- Friday 27th December: 9am – 6pm
- Saturday 28th December: 9am – 6pm
- Sunday 29th December: 10:30am – 4:30pm
- Monday 30th December: 9am – 6pm
- Tuesday 31st December (New Years Eve): 9am – 5pm
- Wednesday 1st January (New Years Day): 10:30am – 4:30pm
- Thursday 2nd January – normal hours resume: 9am-6pm
Opening days and times will vary by store, and many of the restaurants and leisure destinations at The Barcode will also be open at different times to the above, so it’s always recommended that visitors check with individual retailers or venues before setting off to avoid disappointment.
The centre also has a whole host of Christmas activities on offer in the lead up to the big day, from a visit from the Plymouth City Brass Band on 23rd December to magical snow flurries transforming the centre into a snowy wonderland every day at 4pm until Christmas Eve.

In collaboration with Age UK Plymouth, the shopping centre recently hosted a Merry Mailbox initiative, collecting and delivering more than 1,700 heartfelt postcards to older members of the community who may otherwise feel isolated over the festive period.
