Escapism Plymouth is diving into uncharted waters with the launch of Oceanic Panic, a brand new escape room created in partnership with the Ocean Conservation Trust (OCT) which will open to the public on Friday 2 May 2025. Inspired by the National Marine Aquarium, which is operated by the OCT, this immersive experience challenges 2 - 7 players to step into the shoes of ocean conservationists, racing against time to save an injured shark.

Set against a backdrop of marine rescue, players will need to prepare an aquarium habitat to safely house a shark that has washed up on Wembury Beach. With just one hour before the shark arrives, teams must work together to solve puzzles, complete interactive challenges and ensure the habitat is ready - before it’s too late.

As well as delivering a thrilling and educational adventure, Oceanic Panicwill also support real-world ocean conservation efforts. For every booking of the escape room, a portion of each ticket sale will be donated to the Ocean Conservation Trust, with Escapism Plymouth committing to a yearly donation supporting key OCT programs. Funds will go toward the Ocean Horizons network - which supports youth development in the ocean sector - and the Mini Meadows program, helping restore and protect seagrass habitats.

Joe, Director at Escapism Plymouth, said: “This aquarium themed escape room is a first for Plymouth - a thrilling, hands-on way to engage people in marine conservation. Being so close to the National Marine Aquarium, this partnership is a natural fit and we cannot wait to bring this experience to locals and visitors alike.”

Kate Brown, Marketing Manager at the Ocean Conservation Trust, said: “We believe in connecting as many people with the ocean as possible as we know that if you love something, you’ll more likely protect it. Collaborating with the team at Escapism Plymouth on an aquarium themed escape room, helps to communicate with audiences about marine conservation in a fun and engaging way. This aligns closely with our campaign that gets people to think Ocean and by understanding how your everyday actions can contribute to protecting our Ocean. We are sincerely grateful to the team for the commitment to donating to the OCT, contributing to our habitat restoration and protection of seagrass mini meadows.”
