The National Marine Aquarium is celebrating Father’s Day with a special boat trip to explore the famous Plymouth Sound. This Sunday, dads and their families are being invited to join the Aquarium’s team of marine biologists and ocean conservationists to discover the wonders of our oceans and learn more about its habitat and the animals which live in it.

The Plymouth Sound is one of Devon’s 19 special areas of conservation and is teaming with a wide variety of marine life, including; sea grasses, kelp, mackerel, flat fish, rays and a species of shrimp found nowhere else on earth. This unique opportunity will give visitors an opportunity to have hands-on experience exploring the creatures that inhabit the water, rock pools, sea bed and beaches along Plymouth’s coastline. Visitors will be able to pull up lobster pots to explore the contents and work with the biologist in on board to identify the different species.

Nicola Murray, Head of Discovery and Learning at the National Marine Aquarium, commented, “We are looking forward to inviting families on board this Father’s Day. Plymouth Sound is right on our doorstep and our boat trips provide a great way for families to spend some quality time together out on the water – a perfect treat for Father’s Day. Our boat trips take in the historical sights of the Sound as well as being a good chance to spot some marine wildlife and perhaps learn more about how we can look after our amazing local ocean creatures.”

As an educational and marine conservation charity, the NMA relies on visitor funds and donations to continue its mission to connect us with our oceans. For more information, to book tickets and learn more about how you can support the NMA, visit: www.national-aquarium.com.
