Family pays tribute to Adam Smart, the young motorcyclist killed in A38 collision
The family have paid tribute to Adam Smart who died from injuries sustained when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a heavy goods vehicle on the A38 in Saltash last Monday (10 June).
The statement reads:
"Adam David Smart, aged 20, although pronounced dead on Tuesday 11 June, officially passed away on Wednesday 12 June after completing his hero's deed of donating the most vital of organs to those in need around the United Kingdom, in Derriford Hospital with all his family at his bedside.
"A much loved son of David and Kerry and treasured brother of Daniel, Lauren-Louise, Sarah-Jane and Katie-Mai, Steven and Mawgan. Loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and great friend to many. Adam will be sadly missed by all who knew him. His loss will be devastating to everyone who knew him - our lives will never be the same without him. Anybody that ever truly met and knew Adam will be in agreement that the hole left in their hearts will never be replaced, as when they met him they fell in love with him, the loving memories he left behind living on forever having truly touched people's hearts.
"When I describe his nature some may think that I have enlarged him beyond reality after his death. Such is not the case.
"He was a gentle spirit. A gentle soul who loved passionately and gave unselfishly of his time and himself (and in monetary ways when he was able).
"He would go out of his way to help in any way he could… (even strangers he met on the street). Even if it meant putting himself out for our needs. He would put our issues, our needs, before his.
"He eagerly listened to our ramblings on any topic and made observations that let us know he had really been listening not just hearing our words.
"He was a one-in-a-billion kind of a young man... and he will be missed every minute of every day.
"Thank you to everyone who has left messages on social media sites, the family have been trying to read through them all and are trying to thank each and every one of you personally but if we miss one then please accept our gratitude through this message.
"Although we cannot confirm a date or time of the funeral yet, everyone that the family can think of that needs to be invited shall be in the near future either personally or via social media sites."
