First EV charger showroom leads the charge!
Thursday 27th February will see the opening of a brand new electric vehicle charger showroom in Plymouth – the first of its kind in the South West.
This month the government announced the ban on the sale of new diesel and petrol vehicles by 2035, 5 years earlier than originally planned. However, the government is also pulling out all the stops to make driving an electric vehicle more attractive. Including:
- Reducing Benefit in Kind tax on electric company cars to zero in April this year
- Ensuring that Electric vehicles attract zero road tax
- Providing grants (available now) for the purchase of new electric vehicles
- Providing grants (available now) for the installation of charge points for homes and businesses
- Doubling funding for public charge points with a focus on residential areas
As consumers and businesses alike look to ‘do their bit’ for climate change, get ahead of the changes in legislation and make the most of the financial incentives available, there is a large shift in vehicle buying habits, which will see a turning point in the motor industry.
Whilst sales of diesel and petrol cars decrease, the electric vehicle market continues to increase at great pace. In order to power this change, a greater number of charge points will be needed at our homes and businesses.
Plymouth based Pro-Charge SW specialises in the installation of electric vehicle charge points. The brand new showroom, located in the Millfields, is the first of its kind in the South West. With working charge points on display, look/feel and features/befits can be seen at a glance and can be trialled before purchase. Expert, honest advice is also on hand to provide guidance on every aspect of chargers, installation and claiming OLEV grants.
Pro-Charge Director Mr Andrew Coventry is passionate about green energy, recycling/reusing and sustainability. This is evident in the design of the new showroom. The décor is, where possible, recycled or repurposed.
Pro-Charge cover domestic, business and commercial grade chargers. They have been awarded Approved Installer status from a range of leading charger manufacturers, meaning they can offer the most suitable product for domestic or business needs.
What’s more, Pro-charge is an accredited OLEV (Office for Low Emission Vehicles) installer, which entitles homeowners to claim a grant of up to £1,000 for charge points and businesses to claim up to £10,000 under a government scheme.
Mr Coventry said ‘We’re really excited to be part of the electric vehicle movement. I’m conscious about my own impact on the environment and committed to helping others reduce their impact. Our vision at Pro-Charge is to help make the South West an environmentally greener part of the world”.
