Greyhound, who has spent whole life in rehoming centres, looking for forever home
Dash the greyhound is looking for a forever home at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe – having spent most of his life in rehoming centres.
Nine-year-old Dash arrived at Dogs Trust in February 2018, having previously been cared for by a different organisation in Ireland.
Despite being with Dogs Trust for over five years, Dash has been unable to find his forever home.
A gentle, affectionate, and sensitive soul, Dash is a certified couch potato who loves nothing more than stretching out, or curling up, across a sofa, dog bed, or human bed.
Food is the way to Dash’s heart, and he also enjoy zooming around in the garden while playing with soft toys.
He can get overwhelmed in busy or hectic environments, so Dash is looking for adult only adopters in a quiet home where he is the only pet.
Recently, Dash has been living with a foster family where he has come on leaps and bounds – building up lots of confidence and developing real world life experiences.
Elise Watson, Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe, said:
“Dash is an adorable greyhound who is loved by everyone here at the centre.
“He has been living in rehoming centres for most, possibly all, of his life, and we believe this sensitive lad deserves to live out his golden years in a loving home environment.
“Recently, Dash has been staying with foster carers John and Mariam. Despite initially being nervous, he has grown comfortable with his home environment over time.
“Now, we believe Dash is ready to take the leap and find a forever home, and we urge the right family to give this old age pooch a chance.”
Dash enjoys walking in quiet and peaceful rural areas. He enjoys the company of calm and gentle dogs and gains confidence from walking with them.
He can get overwhelmed if there is too much going on and is not a dog who could cope with trips to busy pubs, cafés, or towns.
Anyone interested in adopting Dash should be willing to visit the centre a few times so you can build a bond with each other, and then Dash can do gradual visits to the home prior to adoption.
