Hele Village Community Association helping the community across Torbay to after securing vital funding for heating repairs
Hele Village Community Association is offering a warm space with Information advice and guidance after the Charity successfully applied for funding to help tackle fuel poverty in their local area.
The Windmill Warm Hub project offers a warm space for the community to come for and receive impartial information, advice and guidance and enjoy a hot drink.
It has all been made possible thanks to a £9060 grant from National Grid Electricity Distribution's Community Matters Fund which is supporting hundreds of local groups across its network to fight fuel poverty this winter.
Emma Ellis, Charity Manager from Hele Village Community Association, said: “The Grant from the Community Matters Fund is going to be a massive help to The Windmill Community Centre and all who visit us. Having support to fix our heating means that we will not have to rely on expensive electric portable heaters, and we will be able to offer a warm space again this year. We can also increase our support to the community with information, advice and guidance.”
Chris Hayton, Director of Corporate Affairs at National Grid, says "Unfortunately, we know that many people will struggle to keep their homes warm this winter. At a time when addressing fuel poverty has never been more critical, our Community Matters Fund will support local groups to deliver help where it’s most needed. We're looking forward to working with community groups like Hele Village Community Association to create positive change and to seeing the results of their hard work.”
