Heligan Visitors Raise over £8000 for Local Charities

Heligan welcomed over 3500 visitors, who came to walk off the festive excesses and enjoy a winter stroll through the historic 200 acre estate. Despite the wet start on New Year’s Day, these annual charity days proved as popular as ever with the local community beating all previous December records.

George Elworthy, managing director of The Lost Gardens of Heligan said, “We would like to thank all our visitors and staff who have given so generously on our charity days. We know how much the fundraising means to all the charities and we are delighted to help raise the profile of the wonderful work they all do.”

Further donations were also received during Heligan’s magical Cornish Christmas Nights which also attracted record visitor numbers.

Heligan’s visitors raised an incredible £8496.76 which will be shared between local charities - Cornwall Hospice Care, Cornwall Air Ambulance, Start Clothing Bank and People and Gardens.

"What a fantastic way to start the year, with news of a donation for our Cornish charity of just over £2,000 from our friends at The Lost Gardens of Heligan. I'd like to pass on a heartfelt thank you to all those visitors who took the opportunity to visit this beautiful site on Boxing Day and New Year's Day knowing they would be supporting us. We rely very heavily on donations to ensure we can continue providing care for patients living with life limiting illnesses and their families. Rest assured you have helped make a big difference to those whose lives we touch."
