Everyone is welcome to go along and join in a special family fun day at Astor Park on Tuesday 4 April.
The fun day is being held by the East End Development Trust and is being supported by Plymouth City Council.
There will be lots on offer for both children and adults alike including a football penalty shoot-out provided by Argyle Community Football and Hope Football, face painting, a bouncy castle, inflatable assault course, giant connect four and soft play area for younger children there’s also a BBQ available throughout the day on the precinct area outside the East End Community Centre.
Residents will also get the chance to visit community stalls like the East End Allotment Group who will be promoting nature with an assortment of plants.
As well as games there will be a chance to find out more information about the East End Community Trust and how it helps develop the area by bringing together businesses and residents. For passionate members of the community, there will even be a chance to find out more about becoming a board member.
The organisation already runs various support groups and events for the local community but would like to grow to enable more community members to influence what they would like the local community organisation to focus on.
Julie Richardson, Centre Manager for the East End Community Trust said: “This day is about people knowing that the East End Community Centre is open to residents to take the time to come in and see what we do with the communities help. The East End Community Trust have gone through some significant changes recently and we want to bring together local residents and businesses to not only have fun and enjoy the day but also tell them about The East End Development Trust and our plans for the future. We are also looking for people to become Board members and help move the company forward.”
Supported by Plymouth City Council’s Community Connections service the event aims to encourage local residents to get more involved in their community.
Councillor Dave Downie, Cabinet member for Safer and Stronger Communities said: “Plymouth’s East End has so much to offer, green spaces, coastal paths and a vibrant community of both businesses and residents. Events like this are a wonderful example of the work carried out by the East End Development Trust and the community support they offer.”
The fun runs from 11am to 3 pm at Astor Park in Cattedown.
