Join Plymouth’s biggest cycling festival

Thousands of people will be taking to the streets of Plymouth once again for the annual cycling extravaganza Sky Ride – make sure you’re one of them.

Taking place on Sunday 25 May, Sky Ride enables people of all ages and cycling abilities to cycle around the city on traffic-free roads.

Organised by Plymouth City Council, British Cycling and Sky, this year’s route is 5km and will take in the sights of the Plymouth Hoe, the waterfront, Millbay, Stonehouse and the Royal William Yard.

Cyclists can join the official opening of the route from the Hoe Promenade at 11am, or join the ride anywhere along the route at any time up until 3pm.

A flurry of music, entertainment and competitions will take place throughout the day to add to the cycling festival feel. People can have a go at an air bag jump, watch unicycle and BMX stunt shows, cycle through an inflatable tunnel with smoke, bubbles and lighting or just soak up the atmosphere with a coffee.

With Ride Leaders, Breeze Champions and a number of local bike shops and clubs there on the day you will be able to find out lots of cycling related tips, information and advice.

In addition, everyone that registers ahead of the day will receive a free bike safety check by the experts of Halfords worth £14.99. They will also be there on the day to help out with any last-minute problems too.

We’re delighted to be working with Plymouth City Council to make it even easier for local people to get out on their bikes and have some fun this summer."
