Met Office issues severe weather warning as high winds hit South West on Thursday
The fine, warm weather Plymouth has enjoyed over the last few days looks set to be replaced by cooler, wetter conditions and very strong winds.
The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for South West England as unseasonably strong winds are forecast for the region on Thursday.
In a Met Office statement, they are describing their 'yellow warning' as follows:
"Very strong southwesterly winds for the time of year are expected to extend eastwards across much of southern England, parts of the Midlands and much of Wales. Gusts of 50 mph are likely to develop fairly widely inland with gusts to 60 mph along coasts.
The public should be aware that some disruption to transport is possible along with possible damage to trees."
The alert will be reviewed as an area of low pressure described as "vigorous" develops, reaching the region on Thursday bringing likely gales.
