New Accessible Toilet for the Mansion
A local housing association has joined forces with the Mansion community hub in Totnes to install new accessible toilet facilities for the public.
Thanks to LiveWest’s support, City Electrical Factors (CEF) who funded £5,000 to the project and Wolseley with their funding of over £1,200 for products, the Mansion is delighted to be able to provide a second accessible bathroom.
Jackie Minton, Facilities Manager at the Mansion said: “On behalf of the trustees, I would like to thank our benefactors for helping to further improve the facilities. We already have a great safe space for all but the shabby shared facilities were not ideal.
“One of our Arts and Crafts groups has several wheelchair users and their input was invaluable in helping to come up with a suitable design to suit all. Happily, many people have already expressed their appreciation for the new facilities,” she said.
The Mansion is home to Totnes Library and Rainbow Nursery along with a number of local charities and is managed by Totnes Community Development Society (TCDS).
The cafe space and courtyard gardens are set off the High street and offer a fabulous space for rest and play.
There is a wide variety of activities available for the community to access ranging from choirs, physical exercise, pilates and yoga to ceramics and arts and crafts classes.
Jackie added: “We have got a brilliant community buzz here and are proud to be able to support so many people under the Mansion roof.”
“LiveWest has helped us secure other funding through its Community Grants which have helped by providing us with a large gazebo for our outdoor events, a desperately needed new hoover, and printer for the office ,” said Jackie.
Charlotte Holdsworth, the Community Connector for the area, said: “It’s been an absolute joy working with Jackie and the trustees at the Mansion and to see their new accessible bathroom.
“The Mansion is an invaluable asset for residents at Totnes and we hope the public enjoy their new facilities.”
Atul Dattani, CEF’s Director of Social Housing and Merchant Relationships, said: “CEF were delighted to be given the opportunity by LiveWest to support the Mansion and help install a new accessible bathroom.
“The Mansion does some amazing work within the community, and we are delighted that CEF’s contribution has made a difference for The Mansion and its visitors.”
