New Mayflower walk launched in Plymouth for 2020

Authors  of Mayflower A Seachange, (available on Amazon), an independent historical travel guide, have launched a unique series of Mayflower Walks around the city of Plymouth which aims to reveal the secrets of Britain’s Ocean City and its link to the history of The Mayflower and the difficult global themes of migration, colonisation, pandemics and freedom.

The first walks will take place in Royal William Yard and The Barbican on September 16, and will explore the local area, bringing to life the epic new book Mayflower a Seachange and giving fascinating insights into Plymouth’s place in history. The talk includes a copy of the book and particpants can also have tea and cakes afterwards.

Guides will be Juliet Coombe, award winning author and travel writer, and Charlie Keeler, book editor and qualified Mayflower 400 guide.

Mayflower A Seachange, tells the epic story of the journey of Mayflower in a modern context, getting under the skin of those difficult truths and talking directly in exclusive interviews with the Wampaonoag to listen to their perspective. It also features a unique guide that tells the story of the City of Plymouth and it's place in world history. It's supported by the Chairman of Mayflower 400, who writes our epilogue, Adrian Vinken OBE. This stunningly designed perfect bound book also showcases 20 inspiring professional people from the City,  and their hopes and ideas for the future, reveals Plymouth’s hidden gems and features a unique map of the City.

“Plymouth has an incredible history and is full of hidden gems. The walks are designed to be easy and fascinating,” says Juliet Coombe. “Due to the rule of 6, there are now four walks on Sept 16, but we will organise more if there is interest.”
