PCC: "Storms show police force at its best"
Devon and Cornwall Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Hogg has praised officers and staff for their commitment to community safety during the recent storms.
“The recent spell of terrible weather put incredible pressure on front line policing,” said Mr Hogg.
“Many officers and staff put themselves into perilous situations, often under the onslaught of horrendous conditions, to help members of the public and communities who were in trouble. Not only that, in many circumstances, the police force coordinated the multi-agency response to the crisis and I would also like to thank our partners for the way their employees responded.
“At times like this we see the police service at its best. When the public most needs the support from its police, when circumstances arise that are beyond the control of most, it is the police service and those that work for it who come to the fore, providing security and reassurance.
“I have the utmost respect for all of those sworn officers, PCSOs, Special Constables and police staff who have put the safety of others before their own to carry out their duty.
“I thank them for their unflinching service and promise that I am working as hard as I can to ensure that Chief Constable Shaun Sawyer can, in the future, protect the services he and his team provide so ably for the people of Devon and Cornwall.”
