Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre raises over £800 for Plymouth Drake Foundation

With a combination of donations, matched funding from its parent organisation Care UK and collection boxes, Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre has raised £826 for Plymouth Drake Foundation.

Plymouth Drake Foundation’s aim is to develop wealthy, healthy and lively communities in Plymouth. It achieves this by granting funds to charities, community groups and social enterprises throughout the city. To date more than 260 groups have benefited in the city, to the tune of over £800,000 in grant awards.

With comparatively shorter waiting times and excellent patient satisfaction levels, Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre is a popular hospital in the region and provides care for orthopaedic surgery (major and minor), cataracts, general surgery (such as hernia repair and gall bladder removal) and endoscopy. It is part of the region’s choice for NHS care.

Mark White, Hospital Director at Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre, commented: “We are delighted to have raised money for Plymouth Drake Foundation this year. We are fully supportive of the work the charity does in and around the city.”

Maurice West, Chairman of Plymouth Drake Foundation, added: “We were delighted that Mark and his team chose to support our charity and the team’s efforts have produced a terrific result due to generosity of the staff, patients and their visitors. Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre selected our new campaign, Plymouth Children in Poverty (aimed at improving the self-esteem, aspirations, health and well-being of the most deprived children in our city) as the destination for their fundraising and the funds raised have helped the trustees to commit to supporting 50 young people through the National Citizenship Service accredited training scheme in 2019 – recruitment has already started. I would like to thank Mark and his team for their efforts and look forward to maintaining a close relationship with the Centre into the future.”

Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre is the first hospital of its kind to have received a rating of ‘Outstanding’ from the Care Quality Commission.
