Plymouth Oddfellows fun filled and friendly meetings continue
Plymouth’s ‘Pride of the West with St. Andrew’s Lodge’ of the Plymouth and Truro District Oddfellows, recently met at the St. Budeaux Community Hall and at the gathering, members were delighted to be informed that an amazing £30,207.50 had been donated to the British Red Cross Ukraine Appeal by the Friendly Society.
A communication received from Jane Nelson, Chief Executive of the Oddfellows thanked members everywhere for their incredible efforts.
In addition to the larger national causes and following a recent donation of essential items made by the Plymouth Lodge to the Salvation Army’s ‘Devonport Lighthouse’, a charitable donation is now being planned for another local cause.
Following the recent meeting, members joined for lunch which was followed by an afternoon of ‘Call My Bluff’, a game of unusual and obscure words which was hugely enjoyed.
Bro. Michael O’Leary, ‘Noble Grand’ – Chairperson - of the Plymouth Oddfellows said, “It is great to see just how the Oddfellows have continued to offer support and friendship to its membership recently, raised funds for the Red Cross appeal for aid to the victims of the conflict in Ukraine as well as continuing to support local good causes. We are one of the country’s oldest friendly societies and we continue to live up to our objectives offering friendship and practical support not only to our members but to others as well.”
Meeting for a variety of activities in Plymouth, Redruth, Truro and other locations and with all the benefits of a friendly society, the Oddfellows always welcomes new members of all ages and genders and all enquiries should be directed to the Provincial Secretary, Bro.
