Police hunt valuable stolen Lenkiewicz artwork

Police are investigating the theft of three valuable Robert Lenkiewicz paintings from a Plymouth home.

The offenders broke into the property in Mannamead Road between 8.30am and 9.10am yesterday (23 May) and escaped with the autographed artwork, valued at £5,700.

One of the paintings measures 2.5 metres by 1.5 metres and depicts two horses, one white and one black, and is in a black frame.

The second painting, ‘Anna in Blue’, is 15 inches by 15 inches square and the third is entitled ‘Millennium’ and measures 30 inches by 14 inches. Both have brown wooden frames.

Police are appealing for information and would like to talk to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the street at the time of the offence.

PC Rachel Summerfield, from Charles Cross police station, said: “It would have taken at least two people to carry the larger painting and the offenders would have needed a vehicle to transport it. The property backs onto a service lane that joins Whiteford Road and the vehicle may have parked there.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have seen a suspicious vehicle or activity in the area at the time of the offence to contact us. We would also like to hear from anyone who may have been offered the paintings for sale.”
