Preparing for spring in North Prospect
Budding local gardeners and families are being invited to help prepare for spring at a new community garden in North Prospect.
An army of volunteers is needed to join Plymouth City Council teams at The Beacon, Foliot Road, this Saturday to plant hundreds of daffodil bulbs and strawberry plants in the flower beds around the building.
Councillor Chris Penberthy, Cabinet member for Co-operatives and Community Development said: “The teams are preparing for the grand opening of the Beacon community building next spring and planting up the flower beds in the community garden will ensure the outdoor area looks bright and colourful.
“So far this autumn the neighbourhood team and residents have also planted bulbs at Titchy Park, West Country and Southern Close.”
If anyone in the neighbourhood would like to suggest other areas for bulb planting they can contact the Neighbourhood Regeneration Team on 01752 306532.
The planting is one of the activities arranged by the Council with the North Prospect Parks Forum, a group for residents who are interested in making the most of North Prospect’s parks and open spaces.
The planting session on Saturday 23 November will be from 11am to 1pm. Everyone is welcome.
