In celebration of Pride month – and the 50th anniversary of Pride in the UK – Sherford has created a fitting greeting to the town, with bespoke ‘Sherford Pride’ flags lining either side of its main street. A dozen 2-metre long rainbow flags are flying along Hercules Road from the Bovis Homes, Linden Homes and Taylor Wimpey sales centres, to celebrate Pride and the LGBT+ community, and the inclusive and welcoming place that Sherford is.

Far from the only display at Sherford, many homes are also decked out in rainbow flags and decorations, in what has become an annual celebration for many members of Sherford’s community. A social media giveaway also means that some of the new Sherford Pride flags have been gifted to residents to adorn their homes and add to the town’s celebrations.

In another tradition to mark the occasion, the Sherford Consortium has made a donation to Pride in Plymouth for the third year running. A particularly special anniversary nationally and locally; this year marks Pride’s 50-year history in the UK and 10 years since Pride in Plymouth brought Pride events back to the city.

Richard Plant, Acting Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Exeter – part of the Sherford Consortium – said: “We’re exceptionally proud of the strong community spirit at Sherford, and what an inclusive and supportive space it is. We are delighted to honour this, and to celebrate and promote Pride 2022 during this important and historic event’s 50th year.”
