Reality TV comes to Woolacombe
Essex and Chelsea are now famous areas of the UK due to hit reality shows TOWIE and MIC. Woolacombe is the next UK destination to put itself on the map when it stars in a new two part TV series which starts tomorrow.
‘Who needs Ibiza: The Great British Holiday’ is a two-part TV series set at Europa Park in Woolacombe, one of North Devon’s most popular seaside towns. The first episode is scheduled to air on BBC Three on Wednesday 12th March at 9pm and looks at the growing popularity of ’staycations’ amongst the younger generation. The documentary, filmed last summer follows staff and holidaymakers as they make the most of the great summer and scenery that Britain has to offer. The series documents how the energetic Europa staff keep the site running through the busy peak season, even when things get tough. With smiles all round, amidst the odd fiery debate, cameras follow the team as they battle the trusty British weather and the rabble of resident partygoers.
Each 60 minute episode documents the efforts of the family behind Europa Park; the Toms and their young team, as they battle to make the summer of 2013 their best yet. The show highlights how 18-30s can experience the excitement of the Balearics right here on the British coast. Viewers are in for a treat with a number of stars set to emerge from the show, with a particular focus on Europa’s very own Joe and Vicki, whose love-hate relationship is sure to entertain.
Emma Fordham, Duty Manager at Europa Park commented:
“We’re all really excited for the show to be aired. We had a great time filming it, as did all our guests last summer, and we hope that really comes across in the show.”
“We want to prove you don’t need to be on a party island to have a good holiday! You have sea, sand and sometimes even sun right here in Devon.”
Not only does Europa Park have a busy summer season up ahead but it is launching its very own music festival on 3rd May; Europa Fest. With hopes to make it a regular event, Europa Park’s focus is on showcasing local and national musical talent and appealing to the young audience with which they have become so popular.
