Spooktacular new trail at The Donkey Sanctuary this October
There’s a new spooky adventure awaiting visitors at The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth this October.
The Trick or Trot Halloween Trail is the perfect excuse for getting the family out in the autumnal air to explore the sanctuary and search for pumpkins that hide a trick or treat for the resident donkeys.
By guessing what is a trick or treat for the donkeys, this family activity combines fun, exercise and brainpower. Trail sheets cost £5 each which also includes a prize on completion.
The sanctuary is free to visit and dog friendly, and there are of course lots of donkeys to meet; including adorable miniature donkeys who can be seen exploring their new nature inspired enrichment paddock in the heart of the sanctuary.
There’s also a natural play area, a popular leafy maze, daily talks, engaging exhibits and even a bat beacon, where visitors can find out how these fascinating flying mammals thrive around the sanctuary grounds, while benefitting the donkeys too.
The award-winning onsite restaurant ‘The Kitchen’ is the ideal place to warm up if the air gets a bit chilly - how does pumpkin spiced latte, mint mocha or cookie hot chocolate sound? Snacks and hot meals from an extensive menu using fresh local seasonal produce are served every day, alongside unparalleled views of the surrounding countryside. There's a Gift Shop too, and every penny of profit helps donkeys and mules around the world.
The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth is open seven days a week, from 9am to 5pm. Entry to the sanctuary is free, as is parking, and dogs on leads are welcome. Donations are of course welcome.
The Trick or Trot Halloween Trail runs until 3 November.
