Tony Hogg backs 'Dreamscheme' project for young people

Devon and Cornwall's Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Tony Hogg is backing the 'Dreamscheme' project which encourages youngsters to play a major part in transforming their local community.

One of the most successful examples is in the Eggbuckland area of Plymouth which had experienced significant problems with anti-social behaviour leading to the imposition of a dispersal order.

The scheme introduced local initiatives to enable young people to get involved with the community, organising events such as a fun day and building relationships including helping the elderly.

Local Eggbuckland officers say that other some minor anti-social behaviour, the problems have now gone.

Mr Hogg is attending an event to showcase the reasons why it has worked so well and encourage other similar schemes to be set up in Devon and Cornwall.

Youngsters earn points for tasks they perform in their community, and these can then be exchanged for rewards and prizes donated by local companies. It's a simple idea, but has had a major impact.
