Unleash the fun: Coldharbour goes barktastic this Bank Holiday!
Award-winning café Coldharbour Field Kitchen in Ottery St Mary is preparing for a tail-wagging event on Monday August 28.
‘Pups, Pints and Pizza in the Paddock’ is being held in recognition of International Dogs Day and will be raising funds for local animal rescue centre, ARC at the same time.
Co-owner Andrea Broadhurst said: “The Field Kitchen has been dog friendly from the start and we’re always delighted to welcome friendly pooches – and their owners!
“It’s an informal event in the paddock below the café and is just for a bit of fun. We’re planning to have a custom-made doggy photo booth where our furry models can strut their stuff. We hope to share lots of these on social media afterwards – our very own Coldharbour Cheeky Mutts Gallery!”
A fantastic hamper packed with dog treats and gifts sourced from Coldharbour Farm Shop will be top prize in the fundraising raffle for ARC, which provides rescue, relief and re-homing for lost, unwanted and abandoned domestic animals in the area. There will also be a doggy food bank for anyone who would like to make a donation of pet food.
Every dog visiting Coldharbour Field Kitchen for the event will receive a tasty treat, while owners can enjoy a freshly made, wood-fired pizza from the new outdoor kitchen, accompanied by a pint of their favourite tipple, whether that be an Otter ale or Sandford Orchards cider. The bar is well stocked with wine, spirits and soft drinks too.
Pooches may also wish to persuade their owners to treat them to a dog-friendly Doggy Doggy Yum Yum dairy-free ice-cream. Made in neighbouring Dorset, this has proven to be extremely popular, especially on warmer days.
Andrea adds “A little bit of housekeeping! Dogs need to be kept on leads at all times while they’re here, and owners must be prepared to clear up after them - and take any ‘business’ home with them.”
The event runs from midday to 4pm, weather permitting. The Field Kitchen can be found at the top of Slade Road, just outside the town.
