This autumn the National Trust are inviting visitors to Agatha Christie’s holiday home, Greenway in Galmpton, to get their creative juices flowing with a creative writing programme of prompts and activities.

From Friday 7 October, a selection of Christie’s bestsellers will be on display throughout Greenway House alongside free taster writing workshops and a pop-up outdoor poetry corner.

The free taster workshops will be hosted by award winning writers Jenny Kane, Dr J.R. Carpenter and Cate Quinn. Topics will range from advice on how to get started in writing fiction, being inspired by objects and nature, plotting the location and a taster in crime writing.

Places are limited for the free workshops, and these can be booked online through the Greenway website:www.nationaltrust.org.uk/greenway.

Belinda Smith, Operations and Visitor Experience Manager at Greenway, is excited to be involved. “Since the dawn of our existence humans have been creative – from meeting our basic needs of heat, light and warmth, through to cave drawings, and shared stories and myths. We continue to be so for the benefit of others and the desire to bring joy to our own lives.

Creativity and invention are the very food that allows people and nature to thrive. This autumn we wish to celebrate them through our link here at Greenway with Agatha Christie and literacy. By working with an exciting range of writers and offering new activities we hope to inspire everyone’s inner writer.”

The Creativity and Invention programme is one of a number hosted at National Trust places and is aimed to inspire those taking their first steps into writing. For full details and opening times, visit the Greenway website: www.nationaltrust.org.uk/greenway
