The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has published an updated Intelligent Monitoring Report for Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust, which gives the Trust an even better rating.

The CQC has categorised all acute and mental health trusts in England into one of six summary bands, with band 1 representing the highest risk and band 6 the lowest. These bands have been assigned based on the proportion of indicators that have been identified as ‘risk’ or ‘elevated risk’ or if there are known serious concerns (e.g. Trusts in special measures) then Trusts are categorised as band 1.

Following a review of the NHFD01 National Hip Fracture Database, the CQC has reassessed and changed this indicator for Plymouth Hospitals, from one that presented a risk to one for which there is no evidence of risk. The overall impact of this change means that Plymouth Hospitals moves from band 4 to band 5.

Ann James, Chief Executive, said: “We are very pleased that the CQC have reviewed and reassessed us.  We have many achievements to be proud of and some challenges we are addressing. We believe we are providing safe, effective, caring and responsive care and it is good to see the new report reflects that belief by banding us in the lowest category, bar one.”
