Volunteers wanted for fireworks extravaganza
Parkinson’s UK is calling out for volunteers from across the South West, to ensure a fireworks display goes off with a bang.
The charity is asking for local people to volunteer for a couple of hours to sell official programmes and collect donations, at the Annual British Fireworks Championship in Plymouth on Tuesday 18 and Wednesday 19 August.
The event, which takes place at Plymouth Hoe, is a great opportunity to help raise awareness of Parkinson’s while enjoying a fantastic evening’s entertainment.
Zoe Steer, South West Regional Fundraiser at Parkinson’s UK, explains: “The Annual British Fireworks Championship is a very popular event, and we are delighted to be asked once again be a part of this special occasion for another year. As well as donations, Parkinson’s UK will receive all the proceeds from programme sales over the two evenings.
“I would like to invite Plymouth residents to join us and volunteer a couple of hours of their time. With your help we can make a real difference to the lives of those living with Parkinson’s in the South West.
“This is the fifth and final year of Parkinsons UK’s association with the British Firework Championships and we’re very grateful for the support we’ve received from everyone over those years - we could not have done it without them”.
A total of £1,949.25 was raised and donated to Parkinson’s UK last year from the event.
Volunteers are required from 6.30pm - 9pm. Refreshments and a free Parkinson's UK T-shirt will be provided.
