Warrens bakery backs local good causes
Warrens Bakery – the world’s oldest pasty maker – has donated over £10,000 to charities, events and community groups in the past two years, showing its commitment to giving back across the South West and beyond.
Founded in 1860, Warrens now has 47 stores and continues to support a wide range of local and national causes. During Cornish Pasty Week, 5p from every Cornish pasty sold goes to the Cornish Pasty Organisation, supporting heritage and promotion of Cornwall’s iconic food. In UK Coffee Week, a similar 5p-per-cup donation benefits Project Waterfall, which brings clean water to coffee-growing communities. Together, these two campaigns have raised over £4,000.
Last Christmas, Warrens’ Festive Pasty helped raise more than £2,000 for children’s charity Wooden Spoon.
Warrens also provides in-kind support, donating pasties to Dive Project Cornwall and Children’s Hospice South West, scones to Prickles and Paws hedgehog rescue, and doughnuts to Plymouth Blood Donor Centre.
Through its partnership with Purple Angel, Warrens raised £600 and transformed its stores into dementia-aware spaces, aiming to improve accessibility for customers with dementia.
The bakery is also a proud sponsor of local sports clubs, from rugby and football to cricket, and continues to support community festivals such as Dart Music Festival, Lafrowda Festival, and Lowender’s Big Cornish Sing.
Donations of hampers and vouchers have supported fundraising by groups like Derriford Children’s Unit, Cornwall Air Ambulance, RNLI Sennen, Pendeen Rovers, Exeter Pride, and many more.
“Warrens Bakery is rooted in the West Country and proud to support local charities and initiatives,” said Marketing Manager Louise Batty. “We look forward to continuing to help inspirational people and organisations wherever we can.”
