Woman arrested in connection with suspected stabbing

Police have arrested a 47-year-old woman in connection with an incident that left a man needing hospital treatment for a suspected stab wound to the chest.

Police in Plymouth were called shortly before 7.30pm last night (Monday 8 July) to a house in the Efford area of the city.

Upon arrival officers found a 39-year-old local man with a suspected stab wound to the chest. The man was taken to Derriford Hospital where he received treatment and was later discharged.

A woman from Plymouth was arrested at the scene on suspicion of wounding with intent and is currently in police custody. It is thought that the suspect and victim are known to each other.

The man’s injuries were not serious.

Police investigations are ongoing.
