Wrap it Up for Gold Dust this Christmas
As we reach the final stretch of our fundraising journey with the Gold Dust Appeal, we’re very excited to launch our Christmas campaign.
We have been overwhelmed by the generosity, efforts and goodwill of individuals, patients, colleagues, teams and businesses, supporting us every step of the way towards our target of £100,000 to create bright, exciting and welcoming wards for children and young people at Derriford Hospital.
We now want just one more show of support for the appeal, as it comes to an end, and we’re asking: ‘Can you help us ‘Wrap it Up for Gold Dust?’’
You can do this in many ways and we have put together a 12 Days of FUN(draising) poster to give you some ideas and inspiration!
“We’re so close to the end of our appeal now and what better time to be wrapping the appeal up, than at Christmas,” explained Anita Dykes, Matron for Paediatrics at Derriford Hospital. “The support we have had has been incredible and we really appreciate it. In the next few weeks we hope to be able to share the final designs for the refurbishment of level 12, with a view to the works starting early next year. It really is such an exciting time!
“But, we’re still not quite there with our target of £100,000 so we’re appealing for your support this Christmas and, as our campaign states; we’re asking if you will please help us ‘Wrap It Up for Gold Dust’.
“There are many ways you can support us this Christmas,” Anita added. “How about, instead of sending Christmas cards, why not donate the money you would’ve spent on cards to the appeal? We even have a Gold Dust e-card that you can send out instead to show your support for our worthy cause. You could raise money for us by donning your Christmas jumper or something gold or festive.
“Thanks to our partners Indigo, the hospital’s Christmas tree will be back again, outside of the main entrance, and we are inviting people to dedicate a bauble for a donation. If you fancy a treat, you might want to consider buying a star biscuit from Warrens Bakery at Derriford Hospital, who will be donating money from the sale of their special baked goods to the appeal.
“These are just some of the things we have going on this Christmas. We still have lots more up our sleeves too that we hope you will get involved with so please keep an eye out,” said Anita. “Of course, you might have your own ideas too, which is brilliant. Please get in touch with us, we would love to hear about them.”
