Argyle draw Swindon in Trophy second round

Plymouth Argyle have been drawn away to Swindon Town in the second round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

The tie will take place at Swindon's County Ground in the week beginning 7 October.

Plymouth overcame Cheltenham on penalties after a six-goal thriller in Gloucestershire last Tuesday to earn their place in the second round draw,

Swindon currently lie in ninth place in League One, so a tough match awaits the Pilgrims.

Argyle have said that further details, including ticketing and travel information will follow.

Argyle manager John Sheridan told the club website.

“Financially, it’s very good and I think it’s the best chance that some of our players will get to play in a cup final. We have got to be realistic – we are not going to get to the FA Cup final but this is a competition we can win.

“And it is a great day out. I won it at Chesterfield. It was a great occasion and everyone’ll remember it for a long time. To go and win a cup final, no matter what it is, is always good.

“But it’s tough to get there. You have got to beat teams who are in a higher division than you are and sometimes it’s the luck of the draw.”

“There’s nothing wrong in winning football matches so we need to take it very seriously now.”
