Conor Hourihane signs a new contract for Argyle
Plymouth Argyle's 22-year-old captain Conor Hourihane has signed a new two year contract with the club.
The Irish under-21 international midfielder's existing contract was due to run out in the summer.
Conor Hourihane told the Pilgrims' website: “I am delighted and already looking forward to next season,”
“I hope we can kick on after last season and be competing at the other end of the table. Everyone at the club deserves that after the troubles of the past few years, especially the fans.
“Look at how many were at Rochdale on the last day of the season when we were at the wrong end of the table – imagine what they’d be like if we were at the top.”
The club skipper was one of Argyle's key players last season and received the young player of the year award.
Handed the armband after the departure of Darren Purse, he helped manager John Sheridan achieve the improved performances required to avoid relegation. His signature will be seen as an important building block in the club's ambitions to be fighting at the other end of League Two next season.
