Plymouth Argyle launch talent search for new cheerleading squad

Plymouth Argyle are on the lookout for talented dancers and athletic performers to be part of their brand new official Plymouth Argyle Cheerleading Squad.
A spokesperson for the club says: "We are not only looking for a team to cheer on John Sheridan and the lads, and entertain the Home Park crowd, on a Saturday afternoon. Also, we want them to represent our football club throughout the community, support us at local events, and help spread the Green gospel throughout Devon and Cornwall and beyond.
"Our coaches will provide the best training and will teach all our cheerleaders to excel in all areas of the work they do for the team and for the club, on match-day and away from Home Park.
"They will encourage positive attitudes and respectful behaviour among those within the team, with qualities and values that turn individuals into a team."
If you think that you fit the bill, the club is holding some auditions.
They are open to all and take place at Home Park on Saturday, June 1 in the Tribute Legends’ Lounge, starting at 9am.
On the judging panel will be experienced cheerleader and coach, Rae Moran.
Rae will be heading up the Pilgrims’ crack squad of dancers, having previously danced with the Plymouth Raiders’ cheerleaders.
Rae initially trained in musical theatre, contemporary and ballet before joining the Marjon basketball cheerleaders for two seasons, and later coaching the team.
Rae said: “"I am looking forward to the exciting new opportunity to coach a team linked to such to Argyle, who are the biggest sports club in Plymouth.
"I think that with the dancing talent that we have in the city, I should to be assemble a squad of cheerleaders that the Green Army can be proud of."
All applicants must be aged 16 years or over on July 1, 2013 and be able to attend all rehearsals and 2013-14 home games, and be available for public appearances throughout the community.
