PLYMOUTH suffered their second successive home defeat when they lost 48-41 to group leaders Rye House in the Premier League Cup at the St Boniface Arena on Friday evening, writes Graham Hambly.

The Skills Group Devils went down despite some spirited displays by Jack Holder and Morten Risager, who contributed three of the team’s five race wins between them.

Co-promoter Ashley Taylor said: "It was a better performance from the team than last week against Peterborough and young Jack Holder, in particular, put in a courageous performance.

"But we are a bit like a football team without a striker and the match was decided by the respective number one riders."

Visiting skipper Edward Kennett scored an 18-point maximum from his six rides, while Plymouth’s Ryan Fisher managed only five points from four outings.

Holder top-scored with 12 (paid 14) for the Devils, winning the home team’s man of the match award from sponsors ‘Dream it. Live it.’

Plymouth: Ryan Fisher 5 (4 rides), Sam Simota 7 (5), Jack Holder 12+2 (6), Morten Risager 10+1 (5), rider replacement for Kyle Newman. Reserves: Ashley Morris 6 +2 (7), Luke Chessell 1 (3).
Rye House: Edward Kennett 18 (6), rider replacement for Nikolaj Jakobsen, Anders Mellgren 10 (6), Steve Boxall 7+2 (5), Robin Aspegren 5+1 (5). Reserves: Oliver Greenwood 3 (3), James Sarjeant 5+1(5).
