Sam Chapman joins Plymouth Devils
Sam Chapman will be joining the Plymouth Devils team for the 2015 season as a replacement for Roland Benko, who has had to return to Hungary owing to a family crisis, which he has to help sort, writes Tim Locke.
Local lad Chapman who comes from Launceston rode last season for the Scunthorpe Stags at National League level and was a popular guest rider for many clubs including both Demons and Devils.
He has also had a taste of Premier League guesting for Sheffield against the Devils at home.
Commenting on the recent signing Plymouth Team Manager Lee Trigger said "Sam is 25, a late starter to the sport some might say". "He comes from a motocross background as did Craig Cook, the Worrall brothers and Devils Legend and Promoter Seemond Stephens."
"Sam started to make the move across to speedway a couple of years ago, getting as much track time as he could in the first year, followed by his first full season with the Stag's.
"This season Sam will also be riding for Birmingham in the National League." "He knows it is going to be a very tough season for him, he is very keen, he is prepared to come in and give it his best shot. Sam has spent a lot of money over the winter months in preparation for the new season on better equipment, he's really chuffed to get the opportunity to ride Premier League for his local team".
