Sheridan to remain in charge at Argyle

Plymouth Argyle has announced that manager John Sheridan has agreed to stay on as Argyle manager 'in principle'.

Sheridan was initially appointed as manager until the end of the season after the sacking of Carl Fletcher in January. He has met with the club's owner James Brent to discuss remaining at the club and in a statement, Argyle said: "The fine details of the appointment are to be ironed out, and both parties are confident that a deal will finalised within the next few days."

Sheridan has received plaudits for keeping Plymouth Argyle in League Two after taking over with the club in the relegation places and in dire form. He subsequently masterminded a big improvement in results and confidence, leading the club to a number of key victories including a win in his first game in charge against Morecambe, and over Devon rivals Exeter City last month.

The club say: "John will begin preparations for the 2013-14 season immediately.

"Top of his priorities is to assess and make decisions regarding the playing squad for the new campaign, which John will be addressing this week."

James Brent had expressed his wish to retain John Sheridan earlier this week and it seems both parties see a positive future working together for the club.
