19-year-old killed in fatal motorcycle collision is named
A 19-year-old motorcyclist who was killed in a road collision in Paignton at the weekend has been formally identified and has been named as Gregory Taylor. Known as Greg, he lived in Buckfastleigh.
A 37-year-old man who was arrested by police in connection with the incident has been released on police bail until 7 November 2013 while police investigators carry out further enquiries.
Mr Taylor's family have provided the following tribute:
“Greg was a loving brother and son. He was loved unconditionally by all his family and friends and will be remembered always. The family respectfully request that they be left alone to grieve in peace at this very difficult time.”
Police were called to the road traffic collision which occurred just before 2am on Sunday 4 August on Kings Ash Road in Paignton.
The collision occurred between a small hatchback car and the motorcycle. Mr Taylor was treated by paramedics who attended the scene and medical staff at Torbay hospital but died later.
Collision investigators and detectives investigated the case during the course of Sunday in order to piece together the circumstances surrounding the collision. A post mortem will be conducted in the next few days.
The arrested man is from Trelissick Road in Paignton.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed any incidents involving a red VW Golf and a motorcycle in the vicinity of Tweenaway Cross on either the Totnes Road or Kings Ash Road between 1am and 2am this morning.
