Philippines: Mount Mayon erupts killing five
Mount Mayon, otherwise known as Mayon Volcano, in the Philippines erupted on Tuesday morning killing at least five, and injuring many more according to local media reports.
According to philstar.com tour guide Kenneth Jesalva, who climbed up the volcano with seven others on Monday, said in an interview that three foreign tourists and a tour guide were killed due to the ash ejection.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the Mayon Volcano produced a small phreatic event at 8am and lasted about 73 seconds and sent ash clouds rising to a reported 500m above the summit of the volcano. No intensification of volcanic activity was observed and the alert level is not expected to be raised. (NewsPoint)
