Young people learn more about apprenticeships at Derriford Hospital
Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust is recognised as one of the top NHS providers of apprenticeships in the South West, with over 50 placements across the Trust in the last year.
Next week, as part of National Apprenticeship Week, staff, apprentices, mentors and local training provider Learn Direct will welcome a group of young people from the local area for an information open day to give them valuable insight into the opportunities available with an apprenticeship at the Trust.
The event will be held at Derriford Hospital on Wednesday 5 March and will include a tour of several areas of the hospital where there are opportunities for apprentices to gain experience and career development, supported by relevant training and they will hear talks from current apprentices.
Mandy Johnson, Learning and Development Trainer responsible for organising the Trust’s apprenticeship programme at Plymouth Hospitals, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer the tour again this year. This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to see what an apprenticeship is from those people who know and understand the benefits, level of commitment and long term career value that we offer.”
Unique to the Trust is the strong partnership working with training providers, including Learn Direct who offer a bespoke administration training programme designed for each individual apprentice to help support their career and ensure they get the most out of the opportunity for their personal development and future progression either with the Trust or with another employer.
