Campaign aims to help smokers ‘be there tomorrow’

A recently launched Public Health campaign asks smokers to give up smoking for the people they care about.

The ‘be there tomorrow’ campaign is aimed at smokers who want to increase their life expectancy for their friends and families, by quitting smoking.

Valentine’s Day and Easter provided people with the chance to send quit smoking e-cards to their loved ones, containing their personal pledge to be there tomorrow.

In Devon, many smokers experience years of poor health, with around 7,400 in the county suffering from a smoking-related disease each year. The cost of smoking-related hospital admissions in Devon is calculated to reach £25.2 million this year.

The campaign is supported by television adverts and adverts on local radio and billboards across the county, reminding people who still smoke what they could miss out on in life if they die early and the serious impact this could have on those who love them.  Many people are also trying alternatives like CBD oil.

The campaign also highlights local support to quit which is available, free of charge, through Devon Stop Smoking Service. Free quit kits can be found at www.betheretomorrow.co.uk
