Tinside Lido and Mount Wise Swimming Pools will open to the public as planned on Saturday (24 May).

To celebrate the pools opening for the summer season, Everyone Active, who run Tinside Lido, has announced free entry this weekend.

The severe storms earlier in the year saw extensive damage to both swimming pools .

“This is a fantastic opportunity for local people to come to Tinside to celebrate the re-opening of this iconic facility,” said David Greenwood, contract manager for Everyone Active in Plymouth.

“We have worked very hard with Plymouth City Council and the contractors to be ready to open on time for the 2014 season and the fact that we are able to offer the first weekend at Tinside Lido completely free of charge is wonderful news.”

Deputy Council Leader Peter Smith said: “It’s been a real team effort getting our outdoor pools repaired and open on time and what better way to start the summer season than by offering people a free swim at Tinside?

“It’s a great place to stay cool, have fun and enjoy our stunning waterfront a hot, sunny day.”

Hire of other equipment at both centres will still in operation and there will be a two hour maximum stay during the free sessions to enable as many people as possible to experience the lidos in all their glory.

Normal policies on capacity will be in place over the weekend and children under the age of eight must be accompanied by an adult. Click here for more information.
