Antisocial driving operation a success

Following concerns raised by a number of local communities, the City Centre Policing Team led a successful operation to tackle antisocial driving within the City Centre, Stonehouse and Millbay.

Having recently received reports of speeding, revving engines loudly at night, beeping horns, playing loud music and driving off road, the operation aimed to educate drivers and their passengers about their responsibilities whilst as a driver and passenger of a vehicle and to take enforcement action where necessary.

Almost 80 offences were recorded, ranging from failing to wear a seat belt and lack of insurance, to poor vehicle maintenance and no MOT.

Neighbourhood Team Leader for Stonehouse Sgt Paul Laity said,

“The results of this operation speak for themselves, and this is testament to the valuable relationships that we work to build and maintain within local communities.

"I would like to reassure the public that we do take their concerns seriously and will act when appropriate to do so.  Some individuals continue to drive without regard and care for others, jeopardising the safety of other road users, as well as their own."
