Antiques Roadshow filming travel advice
On June 11 two Park and Ride buses will be laid on for people wanting to see Fiona Bruce and her team of experts film the BBC's most popular antiques show.
“The buses should help alleviate parking pressure at the Yard during the recording of the show,” says Emily Handslip, Urban Splash Associate Director, (which starts at 9.30am and finishes at 4.30pm).
There will be two Park & Ride buses:
- Service will operate every 20 minutes throughout the day with first departure from the Milehouse Park & Ride site at 08.00 (8.00 a.m) and last departure from the RWY (turning circle outside) at 18.58 (6.58 p.m) calling at the Railway Station stop on Saltash Road in each direction.
- Milehouse Park and Ride site is adjacent to the Plymouth Argyle football stadium and from the A38 Parkway just follow signs for PAFC
- For SAT NAV users the postcode is PL2 3DQ
- Car Parking is free at the site which is open 24/7
- AA Road signs will help visitors find the Park and Ride service
"There will be limited parking at The Yard during the filming, and we’re encouraging visitors to the Antiques Roadshow to take other forms of transport," said Michelle Watson, Estate Manager of Royal William Yard.
Visitors can arrive by foot; take the Royal William Yard Ferry from the Barbican or Mount Batten; or the Cremyll Ferry from Cremyll, Cornwall to nearby Admiral's Hard.
For those wishing to travel by boat, berths are available for £5 at the Yard basin. Cycling is also encouraged and Rockets and Rascals will be providing bicycles which can be hired at their Barbican hub to travel to the Yard.
The Plymouth Citybus 34A service leaves every 15 minutes direct to the RWY, whilst the number 21 or 21A service to Stonehouse Bridge leaves every 15 minutes; No.3 leaves every 20 minutes and No.81 leaves hourly. Alight at Stonehouse Roundabout and walk down Durnford Street to the Royal William Yard.
There also will be a wide range of options to eat and drink on offer on the day including the popular Bistrot Pierre, Las Iguanas and the Royal William Yard Bakery - as well as the famous BBC Antiques Roadshow Tea Tent.
"It's an honour to host the Antiques Roadshow at The Yard and we are expecting it to be an enormously exciting but busy day” said Urban Splash Associate Director, Emily Handslip. “We’d encourage anyone coming along to plan their day in advance and use the Royal William Yard ferry or other methods of transport as much as possible,"
