On Sunday July 5th, a twenty-strong team of architects and urban designers from LHC’s Exeter and Plymouth studios will cycle across Devon to raise funds for one of the UK’s oldest charities, Devon based Hannahs.

The team will cycle an impressive 58 miles and climb 3750 feet of rolling Devon hills, raising money towards a new £11,000 all-terrain wheelchair that will get more kids and young adults at Hannahs off-the-beaten track and having more adventures, whatever their abilities.

The team from LHC, including six of the company Directors, will ride from the Exeter Design Studio on Exeter Business Park to the Plymouth Design Studio at Royal William Yard, passing by the two Hannah’s sites at Seale Hayne, Newton Abbot and Hannahwood at Ivybridge.

LHC Group Director John Baulch said: “This will be a real challenge for some of our team. We aren’t a bunch of regular cyclists doing another Sunday afternoon ride together. Some of us really aren’t very fit, and some of us aren’t particularly young, so it will be a tough ride, but one worth every ounce of energy used and every penny raised.

He continued: “Hannahs is fantastic local charity supporting and enhancing the lives of children and young people with severe disabilities. The staff provide essential care, support and learning opportunities, helping each child and young person realise their own potential. This all-terrain wheelchair will offer a whole new range of opportunities for them, allowing them to go on adventures otherwise unachievable. We want to raise as much money as possible to help the Hannahs team, and the children and young adults they care for, achieve their dream.

The Dame Hannah Rogers Trust has been supporting and enriching the lives of children and young people for more than 250 years. The charity is dedicated to empowering children, young people and adults with profound physical and learning disabilities, providing them with life-changing opportunities and advocating their needs.

Working across their two sites in Devon, Hannahs has a dedicated and highly trained team of staff to help students and visitors grow and learn with confidence and freedom.

Andrew Dean, Director of Development at Hannahs said: “We work hard all year round to provide much needed support and care to children, young people and adults with disabilities. The support and fundraising efforts by people such as those at LHC makes it possible for us to maintain our high levels of care, as well as enabling us to buy much needed equipment and extend our facilities and services. Thank you to everyone involved in this cycle ride, and good luck!”
