Fitz to take over Judi's show
David Fitzgerald is to take over the presenting slot currently occupied by Judi Spiers.
Fitz and his Producer Monica Ellis will be moving to the Mid-Morning Show on BBC Radio Devon from Monday 6 July.
The BBC also announced this afternoon that Pippa Quelch will be the new voice of Drive Time.
Pippa, who was born and grew up in Devon, will present a mixture of news, travel and music each weekday from 5pm – 7pm in her new Drive Time Show.
Pippa currently presents the Sunday morning show on the station, ‘The Potting Shed’, where she offers listeners gardening tips and shares her passion of all things gardening.
BBC Radio Devon Managing Editor, Mark Grinnell, said: “Pippa is an experienced and popular presenter, with a great passion for Devon and of course the county’s beautiful gardens! I am delighted she is taking over the Drive Time Show on BBC Radio Devon and I am sure that our listeners will welcome the opportunity to hear more of her warmth and friendly manner.”
Pippa Quelch said: “As a local girl with a deep-rooted love for Devon and the people who live here, I’m over the moon to be joining the new line-up at BBC Radio Devon, from 5-7 each weeknight.
I “landed” on BBC Plymouth’s doorstep 20 years ago and have loved every minute since – from being on exercise with thousands of Royal Marines in the Oman desert, to being past-life regressed as a Munchkin in The Wizard of Oz! It’s an exciting time for BBC Radio Devon and I’m delighted to be part of that.”
